I'm tentatively supposed to go see Captain America with friends on the 25th or 26th or something.
...
I don't know if I can wait that long. 8|a I might just sneak in and see it on opening day by myself like a loser, and then see it again later, because even if it's not super-special-awesome-amazing I doubt I wouldn't like it enough to hang out with friends and catch a second go. And I would get to bask in Steve Rogers being Steve Rogers all over my screen just a few days earlier. :D
Also, Chris Evans being Steve Rogers. I didn't really know anything about Chris Evans until he was cast as Steve except that he was also Johnny Storm, and wtf kind of sloppy internal continuity was that? 8| But then I started reading interviews about his initial reluctance and multiple-times-refusal of the role and the anxiety and sensitivity and really just his down-to-earth personality, and the more I did the more I liked him, and the more I felt that he was the right kind of person to play the part.
/dead of cute
I can’t wait to see how this translates on screen. I think it’s potentially a really interesting change to the dynamic from the comics, that Steve is so much younger than Tony in the movies. From their personalities—Steve being such a down-to-earth working class boy and Tony being so high-profile and literally brilliant and an uber-charismatic celebrity and very aware of it—I wouldn’t be surprised if Steve was dazzled by Tony, while being irritated with him at the same time for being high-maintenance and also an arrogant dick. XD

I've been avoiding spoilers and clips, but I did see the trailer, and seeing him in action--peeking over the shield making 0_o eyes at Peggy Carter after she shot at him, all the other soldiers diving away from the grenade and Steve, of course, of course, being the one to fling himself on top of it--only reinforced that feeling.
PLEASE TO BE BEING A GREAT STEVE ROGERS, CHRIS EVANS. ;A; Please to be being a great movie, Captain America. ...Or at least a good superhero movie. :|a
...Also, please to continue being the cutest star-struck fanboy over RDJ, Chris Evans. It is THE most adorable thing.
“He’s so great. I can’t say enough about him, I really can’t. I didn’t know what to expect going in to work with him. He’s so talented and he’s got so much charisma and persona. I can honestly say, of all the movie stars I’ve worked with, he’s the one that when he comes on set, you really feel like, ‘Man — this guy’s a movie star!’ You just feel it. When he comes in a room he just owns the oxygen.”
“I had to do a scene with him the other day where I was just nervous, it was just me and him, and I was just terrified. It’s Robert Downey Jr.! And he’s just, you know, every little take he gives you a fist bump, a little thumbs up, and it just changes your whole day. It probably means nothing in his mind but I go back to my trailer, like, giddy. He really is something else.”

In another news, I finally powered through the five-hour 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice last night (conked out at around 4 AM, WORTH IT), and then I woke up in the morning and there was a 27,000 word Charles/Erik P&P AU on my flist. :D :D :D Three cheers for Serendipity~!

Date: 2011-07-22 06:45 am (UTC)His best movies are probably Sunshine and The Losers, he's really great in those two. I also love him in Push, though that movie is sort of like a fun B-movie. Hmm, you may have seen him in Not Another Teen Movie? Or maybe The Perfect Score? Those used to be on tv a lot haha
I feel sorry for him because lots of people give him shit for being in the Fantastic Four movies, but they're forgetting that he's acting like Johnny Storm, so of course he's coming off as a douchebag. Which is weird, because you'd think those people would have seen Sunshine and/or the Losers since the former is a scifi movie and the latter is a comic book movie. And Sunshine is probably what convinced the casting directors he could do Steve Rogers lol

Date: 2011-07-22 06:59 am (UTC)/puts these movies on my To Watch list; sci-fi and comic book and B-movies? Yes please! XD And no, I actually haven't seen either of those; somehow I end up giving a lot of common movies the miss.
Dude, I liked him as Johnny Storm because he was good at conveying douchebaggery, and that's how he should be! But the movie itself wasn't all that great, obviously, so I didn't know if he was one of those meh actors who can convey douchebag because they are a douchebag or because he was actually a good actor settling into the character well. |D I'm glad it's the latter, and am definitely looking forward to seeing him in other roles. :)a

Date: 2011-07-22 05:03 am (UTC)So, are we shipping Steve/Tony? Is this a thing? I know nothing about Captain America but I could get on board with that...

Date: 2011-07-22 06:46 am (UTC)Oh, my friend, it is so totally a thing. :D It's only the biggest pairing in Avengers fandom, they are ridiculously slashy and I can't wait to see them interact in movie form \o/. I knew less than nothing about Captain America either before the Iron Man movies came out—didn't know anything about Iron Man either, for that matter—but since then I've come to ship it until the ends of the Earth.
I'll just leave this Shipping Manifesto and Slashy Moments List here for your perusal, if you feel like taking a look. ~_^
