EXACTLY. The beach scene, for me, was like—...no, no way, it can't be going the way it seems to be, any second now, it's a mainstream superhero blockbuster, of course they're going to pull back and not go as far as they really should to complete the emotional arc and do justice to the OH MY GODDDD IT IS ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT ;A;!!! I was really, really not expecting the romance aspect to hit me as hard as it did, but yeeeeah.

Oh man, yes, I don't know how I could possibly write the things I want to write without devoting way too much time and effort and peace of mind to getting it right, and I haven't properly written fic in ages, so it's all so intimidating. On the other hand, I want to be actively involved in the fandom, so I'm making do with trying to comment and everything I can and thus cheerlead for the folks who are up to it at this point. XD Hopefully, someday, we can join their ranks!
